Manchester City striker Robinho will join Barcelona on loan during the winter transfer window with a view to a permanent deal in the summer, according to Spanish television station, TV3.

Speculation over a possible deal has escalated in recent days with a reports suggesting that an agreement had been reached to allow the transfer to take place with the final details to be concluded in the intervening period. Now, the Telenotícies Migdia programme claims to have received confirmation of the deal from an unidentified source at Camp Nou.

Earlier reports indicated that Manchester City would look for an upfront payment in the region of €35 million for the former Real Madrid striker but it now appears that Barca's preferred loan-to-buy option is set to be the agreed arrangement.

Robinho joined the Citizens just 13 months ago in a surprise move from Madrid when a move to Chelsea looked likely. It now appears that he will join Los Blancos' fierce rivals and could be set for a return to the Bernabeu next April; the Blaugrana will look to repeat their 6-2 thrashing of Madrid from last season.
